ABERTHAU POTTERS CLUB
Q. When are your sales?
A. We have sales twice a year (the first Saturday in May and the first Saturday in December). The next one is Saturday, December 3rd at the West Point Grey Community Centre, 4397 West 2nd Avenue (at the corner of Trimble and West 2nd Avenue). The sales start at 10 a.m. and run until 4 p.m.
We accept only cash or cheques for purchases. Remember to bring a bag or, even better, a box to carry your pieces home.
Q. Can your pots go in the dishwasher and microwave?
A. Unless they are otherwise marked, they can go in the microwave and dishwasher.
Some potters use special techniques, such as Raku, to produce pots which are not dishwasher or microwave safe. These pots are always marked.
Q. Who gets the money from the sales?
A. The club is a non-profit organization. The community gets a quarter of the revenue and the rest goes to the individual potters.
Q. Can anyone make pots at the community centre?
A. West Point Grey Community Centre offers a variety of pottery courses, which anyone can take. See the staff in the community centre office, website, or brochure.
If you want to join the club, you need to get yourself on the waiting list. We call up new members in September, depending on how many spaces have become vacant.
Club members are entitled to take part in our sales and pot year-round in the studio beside the Aberthau Mansion.
